For the first time, the Herceg Novi Comic Festival will welcome a special guest from Portugal—and what a guest it is. Acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Filipe Andrade, whose career has taken him from earning a degree at the Lisbon Academy of Fine Arts and a master’s degree in Los Angeles to living and working between the United States, Hong Kong, Italy, and Portugal, joins this year’s lineup.

From 2009 to 2019, Andrade worked extensively for Marvel Comics, illustrating titles including Immortal Hulk, Jessica Jones, Fantastic Four, John Carter, and Captain Marvel. He has also collaborated with major publishers and studios such as BOOM! Studios, Passion Studios, and Riot Games, while working alongside numerous renowned artists on independent projects.

As a complete creator, Andrade wrote and illustrated his own graphic novels The Closed City, Crossroads, and Solitude, all published by the Lisbon-based publisher TLS.

He is the recipient of the prestigious Hugo and Ringo Awards for Cyberpunk 2077: Big City Dreams, published by Dark Horse Comics, and has received multiple Eisner Award nominations for the critically acclaimed graphic novels The Many Deaths of Laila Starr and Rare Flavours, both of which have been translated into numerous languages around the world.
