Jill Thompson

After graduating from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Jill Thompson began a career in the comic book industry that has spanned several decades and earned her superstar status. She is best known for her own creations “Scary Godmother” and “Magic Trixie,” as well as legendary titles like “The Little Endless Storybook,” “Death: At Death’s Door,” “Sandman,” and the spectacular graphic novel “Wonder Woman: The True Amazon,” which earned her an Eisner Award.

Throughout her career, she has worked for almost all the major publishers in the United States, and her work has been translated into dozens of other languages. She has collaborated with many of the world’s top writers, including Neil Gaiman on “Sandman,” Grant Morrison on “The Invisibles,” Mark Millar on “Swamp Thing,” Will Pfeifer on “Finals,” Evan Dorkin on “Beasts of Burden,” and with the legend of American professional wrestling, Mick Foley, on the acclaimed titles “Halloween Hijinx” and “Tales from Wrescal Lane.” Jill is evidently a fan of American wrestling, as she is also responsible for designing the costumes of superstars like Edge and Daniel Bryan. The versatile Jill Thompson, in addition to drawing and writing new comics, enjoys traveling the world, participating in comic conventions, and giving lectures at colleges and art schools. She is also an active competitor in Spartan Races, a cook, a baker, and a fencer with the Chicago Swordplay Guild.
